Dinner and a Show

Start spreading the News. I'm leaving today. I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap These little town blues
Are melting away New York, New York. - Just some of the lyrics I can remember.

Wow! Driving into New York can be scary. But I wasn’t. The Llama Lady was at the wheel and she knew where she was going. Such confidence. I am just a little Mexican boy from the sticks – you know? I was oohing and aahing. I cant believe what fun. We got the Llama Lady checked in to her hotel. Due to unforeseen circumstances, as tends to happen with Mary Christmas, we were at another hotel not too far away - both along Madison Ave. Llama Lady and I went to get tix for a show. We decided on Mama Mia. And then we went to lunch. Keeping with our Asian theme, we had Chinese. Yumm! We had so much food! Just to see her BIG SMILE while eating was worth every plate. We walked back the the ticket office to pick up our tix but they informed us to pick them up before the show and ‘will call.’ Cool. They also got of orchestra seats. WAY COOL!

We walked around Times Square and being the piglet that I am I got a chocolate covered pretzel from Roxy’s Deli. There was also some sort of street fair going on, so we walked through all of that and made our way back to Llama Lady’s hotel. She was gonna rest before the show so I went to my hotel to check in. Mary Christmas would not be arriving till about 11:30 or so. I am glad he put me on the room. The hotel was very nice. It is under construction, or rather renovations. I must say again. It is nice. I freshened up and went back to meet Llama Lady for our show!

We walked to the theater. On the way we stopped at St Patrick’s Cathedral. I was overwhelmed by how big the church was. Back home I attend the Chapel of St Basil. BIG difference between a lil old chapel and a cathedral. She went off to look in the gift shop, I went to light a candle when I realized mass was going on. I felt a little guilty cause I haven’t been to mass in along time. It had not hit me how long it had been till that moment. I listened. We were at my favorite part. The priest says, “May God’s peace be with you always.” And we respond, “And also with you” Then everyone offers each other handshakes or hugs and wishes God’s peace to you. I was moved. In such a big city I felt safe.

So we go on to the theater. Se the show. It was very upbeat and fun and lots of laughter. The eye candy was very good. Those chorus boys running around without their shirts on. :) I loved it. Thank you Llama Lady.

After, we walked around looking for a place to go to dinner. We saw one of the hott boys from the show walking down the street eating an apple. God, he was hott! We finally decided on a place we saw – guess? Yep. Chinese. I could never get enough Chinese. And I know the Llama Lady was on a mission. Great food, great conversation. Great show. What a great way to spend the first day in the Big Apple.

You'll be an old hand before long. Or two hands.

I think the entire UST could fit inside St. Patrick's. Did you feel Irish? I was last there on St. Patrick's Day in '02 when everyone in NYC is Irish.

Miss you, hijo.
