A Day on the Farm
Woke up, stumbled down the stairs and had coffee while doing some writing. Made breakfast for everyone, MIGAS. Yes again. Hehehe! They were good though. I truly enjoy making someone happy by such small acts. Something so simple like making one of their favorite dishes and seeing them smile and coo and ahhh over the fruits of my labor. Truly a labor of love. Speaking of labor, what we did next was REAL farm labor. How did this city boy get roped into doing this? Well, just you know, I am adding my homoflair to this story.
Pedicures all around for the animals along with some Advantage-like applications, shots and rectal exams! Woo-hoo! We wet to the barn and set up the shoot. We were going to do worm shots (vaccinations), fecal exams, clip the hoofs, and I got to apply CyLence which is an Advantage-like product for alpacas. It gets applied on the back of the head, between the ears on the skin. It repels flies and keeps them free of lice and fleas. While I was doing that and keeping them busy and attentive on their head, Llama Lady was busy at the rear. Little plastic glove on with a bigger plastic glove over that. Lube at the ready and fingers in, scoop up and out – done! My job was fairly easy. I also got to hold them steady while Oliver gave them their shot. Again, distract a bit and they really did not feel it. Then Brandon was in there with clippers, trimming the hoofs. He was good at it. I was amazed at how quickly we were done, about 4 hours to do 30 animals. Whew! I was so glad to be done. It was kind of exhausting. I think I was more exhausted from doing the males. (That doesn’t sound right does it?) I was more exhausted from working with the male Alpacas. They kept fighting each other. And spitting. So much spitting. It was nasty. If you think hocking up a regular old luggy is nasty, you should see an alpaca spit! Yuck! Brandon got hit on the arm and hand. Llama Lady got it on her side. I, luckily was spit free! Brandon & Oliver let the males out afterward and they continued to fight. Oliver had to go get the hose and even that did not stop them. They were ready to fight to see who gets to breed. That day is coming soon, I think today or tomorrow. I am not going to be here for that. I can get into many things, Alpaca voyeur is just not one of them, lol
Start spreading the news. I’m leaving today. I wan to be a part of it……..
We leave for NY today. I am excited. The Big Apple. Manhattan, Broadway, Times Square, wait. Now I think I am going into the theme from Green Acres. Oh gosh! Please get me back to the city!
